Jessica Kotlowitz and Nadia Mulder are Registered Dietitians and Nutritionists who are passionate about plant-based nutrition. This is their 2nd mini recipe e-book where they explore the abundant world of plant-based African foods.

Their recent work in creating vegan menus for IAPF (International Anti-Poaching Foundation) in rural Africa, took them on a journey of discovering the indigenous foods and cultural cuisines of the very land they had been born on, and yet knew very little about. They soon developed a love for African cultural foods and a passion for spreading awareness about the nutritional, environmental and socio-economic benefits of embracing traditional African cuisine. They decided to use the recipes they had developed in their work for IAPF to create an Indigenous African cookbook for vegans and to educate fellow plant-based eaters about the beauty of African cuisine.

Special thanks to Mbali Mapholi, Registered Dietitian for being our cultural adviser and reviewer on this book.

I just received my e-cookbook, and after a quick skim, I must say it looks absolutely amazing. I’m so excited to dive in and start cooking! It was also amazing to learn about Jessica’s collaboration with the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF). She was approached to develop a vegan menu for their all-female anti-poaching rangers, known as Akashinga, in Zimbabwe. IAPF is dedicated to protecting wilderness landscapes in Africa and preserving endangered species, and their adoption of a vegan diet is part of their conservation efforts. Jessica’s role was to ensure that this diet met their nutritional requirements, and she worked closely with their chef to create a menu using locally available ingredients. It’s truly heartwarming to have access to these recipes now, thanks to this e-book. What a great feeling knowing that we can support the local food system, our local economy, social change, and the spirit of community with products like this!
